 Hello!  Christmas break is right around the corner! I hope everyone is looking forward to the holidays. This week, we celebrated Honukkah. We learned about the meaning behind this holiday, and how it may be different from other holidays. We read a book on Epic called  "Grover's Hanukkah Party" . We then did an art activity on Friday as we talking about the candles and the Menorah. We got a little messy in the classroom! But mess is fun, and engaging which is why I love what I do.  In math this week, we focused on number identification an counting through the use of exploring with dominoes. We all took turn with a Boom Learning activity we did as a whole group, before we split off to do our independent math tasks. This week was a week filled with learning. In math, we worked on measurements using non-standard measurement tools. Students were able to test out many non-standard tools like chains, pillows, chairs and tables to measure our friends' heights in the classroom. We also worked on organizing objects from tallest to shortest or vice versa. Students spent this week to think about the other ways we can measure objects without the use of a ruler or metre stick.                    In LA, this week, we wrapped up our nutrition topic while creating sentence strips from our read aloud based on each of the food categories. We then played a nutrition game in the gym where students received an image from a food group and placed it where it belongs. We had a whole lot of fun! Today, we made our own fridges where we decided which types of food we would like to place inside our fridge! We then cut, glued and decorated our fridges for display on our class...

This week, we have continued to learn about nutrition. We focused more this week on which is considered a treat, and what is considered a healthy food. Students did great organizing their plate as well as making healthy life choices. Additionally, we started to work on our nutritional flip books. This week, we have worked on the dairy, fruits and vegetable sections of our books. We proceeded by reading a book from "Epic Books" called "I can eat a rainbow" This week, we also worked on life skills for washing our hands the proper way. He worked on scrubbing both hands for 20 seconds before we proceed in rinsing under warm water. As a class, we will work more on this throughout the rest of the school year as we learn more about germs, and cleaning dirty areas before touching our faces, food, and others.  Here is a picture of washing hands that we have been working on for the past week. This week has been very busy. Students were excited about the Halloween weekend and were still very excited this week about the amount of candy they had. But, I do like a busy classroom. This week, we started nutrition! We are learning about what is considered unhealthy snacks, and what is considered a treat. We are also learning about the different food groups and the portions of what we should have on our plates. We will dig more about this topic for this upcoming week.  During an activity, we discussed which foods are the healthiest choice as we used our Lumio interactive website in the classroom. We then cut, glued and organized by colour which items we prefer the most on a regular basis. This week, we also worked very hard on recognizing our soldiers who fights for our freedom.  Hello all!  Hope everyone had a great week. This week was filled with happiness, joy and smiles. As a class, we had a lot of fun, and worked hard on our transition routine. This week, we had the opportunity to carve pumpkins as a class! Students loved this, and participated in carving/ cleaning the pumpkin. We also attended the pumpkin patch, and we loved all of the creativity in what the other classes in our school did! Hello all! I hope everyone had a fantastic week. This week was filled with success and growth. In math, we worked on telling time. However, students cannot begin to tell time until they are able to identify and recognize numbers from 1-12. We stepped on the breaks, and decided to practice our counting using the classroom clock. We did many Boom Learning activities on the smart board which engaged the students throughout the week!  In LA, we continued our predictable writing. This week, we decided to switch it up a bit, and did a song themed reading approach, instead of a read aloud. The chosen song was "Hickory, Dicory, Dock!" Students took turns at the smartbaord, listening to the song, and pulling the animal up and down the clock.   Hello all!  Another great buy busy week! There were lots of learning this with recognizing the Canadian coins, transitions, and sentence structures.  First, let us talk about how successful numeracy was this week. Students were introduced to the coins of Canada. We first introduced the $2 coin, $1 coin, 5c, 10c, and 25c coins as well. We played and enjoyed many kinds of interactive activities throughout the 3 weeks to help with the understanding of each coin and the differences between them.  As a big event, with the help of our support staff, we created a Tim Hortons shop in our cafeteria where students had the opportunity to order donuts or Timbits using the Canadian coins. Students who are non-verbal successfully pointed at the picture of the item they would like to order to communicate to the cashier on the donut they would like. Students who are verbal successfully used their words and said "I want ___ please." They all did extremely well, and I am so exc...
