Rich Learning

This week was a week filled with learning. In math, we worked on measurements using non-standard measurement tools. Students were able to test out many non-standard tools like chains, pillows, chairs and tables to measure our friends' heights in the classroom. We also worked on organizing objects from tallest to shortest or vice versa. Students spent this week to think about the other ways we can measure objects without the use of a ruler or metre stick.

In LA, this week, we wrapped up our nutrition topic while creating sentence strips from our read aloud based on each of the food categories. We then played a nutrition game in the gym where students received an image from a food group and placed it where it belongs. We had a whole lot of fun! Today, we made our own fridges where we decided which types of food we would like to place inside our fridge! We then cut, glued and decorated our fridges for display on our classroom bulletin wall.

We also chose two other students to do recycling this week from our classroom environment! We were so excited to go to different classes in the school to meet new teachers and friends! We worked on turn taking, waiting, and knocking on classroom doors before entering the class to get the recycle bins.

Our friends did such an amazing job!

Lastly, we worked on story sequencing. This week, we read "The Big Green Monster" as a class. We listened very carefully to the story and then sequenced the events from from the story as an activity. With support, students were able to successfully complete this task.

This week was filled with learning and fun/ engaging activities.  We are excited to engage in more activities this upcoming week! Stayed tuned.
